Flor de Caña 4 Extra Seco is a white rum with hidden depth. Produced at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano in Nicaragua, it is distilled using volcanic spring water and aged for a full four years in American oak barrels before being filtered to remove colour. That ageing period — longer than many dark rums — gives it a smoothness and complexity that belies its clear appearance.
The Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua has been producing rum since 1890, and the family-owned distillery has earned Fair Trade and carbon neutral certifications — a rarity in the spirits world. The volcanic terroir and slow, natural fermentation contribute to a spirit of notable purity.
On the nose, expect vanilla, coconut, light banana, clean mineral notes, and a touch of toasted oak. The palate is smooth and rounded with vanilla, subtle coconut, light tropical fruit, and a whisper of oak. The finish is medium-length with vanilla and a clean, slightly dry close.
An excellent choice for a refined Daiquiri or a Cuba Libre where the rum's smoothness can shine. The four years of ageing add a dimension that most white rums lack.
