Myers's Original Dark has been a staple of professional bars for decades, and with good reason. This Jamaican dark rum brings an intensity and depth of flavour that makes it indispensable in cocktails that demand a rum with real presence. Produced in Jamaica using a blend of pot still rums, it carries the island's signature funky, fruity character alongside dense molasses richness.

The production philosophy is traditional: Jamaican pot still distillation, extended fermentation to develop esters and congeners, and ageing in white oak for up to four years. The result is a rum that tastes unambiguously of Jamaica — funky, fruity, and full-bodied.

On the nose, expect blackstrap molasses, dark toffee, overripe banana, coffee grounds, and dried orange peel. The palate delivers dense burnt sugar, coffee, dried orange, tropical fruit funk, and layers of dark fruit complexity. The finish is extended with toffee, dark chocolate, and oak warmth.

Myers's is the classic rum float — pour it over the back of a spoon onto a Mai Tai or Planter's Punch and it adds a layer of dark, funky complexity that transforms the drink. It also makes excellent rum cake. A bartender's essential.

This is my go-to rum for cooking and baking. The intense molasses, coffee, and caramel flavours hold up brilliantly in rum cakes, bananas foster, and rum balls. The Jamaican funk adds depth you can't get from other dark rums. Affordable and dependable.

Myers's has a distinctly Jamaican character beneath all that molasses darkness — there's a fruity, slightly funky note that sets it apart from other dark rums. Rich coffee, caramel, and brown sugar with a hint of banana. Excellent for baking and great in a Rum Punch.

Cocktails, baking, cooking, tiki drinks, dark floats, or just with cola on a Friday night — Myers's does it all. The Jamaican pot still character gives it a fruity complexity that elevates everything it touches. The deep molasses and coffee notes are rich and satisfying. A true workhorse.

You cannot make a proper Mai Tai or Zombie without Myers's. The deep, dark, fruity molasses character is what gives those classic tiki drinks their soul. Layer it on top of a Piña Colada for a dark float and you'll understand why bartenders have kept this in stock since the 1870s.

My grandfather always had a bottle of Myers's in the cabinet. The dark molasses, coffee, and brown sugar bring back memories. It's not the most refined dark rum but it has a warmth and character that more polished rums lack. Good with cola or ginger beer.

Myers's has been the standard Jamaican dark rum for decades and it's still excellent. Deep molasses, burnt sugar, coffee, and a distinctive Jamaican fruitiness. The pot still character gives it more personality than most dark rums. Brilliant in a Dark and Stormy or over vanilla ice cream.

There's good flavour here — molasses, coffee, tropical fruit — but the delivery is a bit harsh. The alcohol has a slight burn that detracts from the experience neat. It's best used as an ingredient rather than a sipping rum. Fine in cocktails and cooking but not for enjoying on its own.
