Neisson is the smallest of Martinique's remaining distilleries, and many agricole purists consider it the finest. The family-owned estate grows its own blue cane variety, distils exclusively in a copper pot still — unusual for agricole, which typically uses column stills — and ages in French oak. The result is a rum of exceptional purity and character.
The Réserve Spéciale is aged for a minimum of four years, and the copper pot distillation gives it a roundness and depth that column-distilled agricoles sometimes lack. The estate-grown blue cane adds a distinctive sweetness and intensity of sugarcane character.
On the nose, expect candied peel, marmalade, white pepper, roasted hazelnut, fresh sugarcane, and faint smokiness. The palate is clean and precise with fresh cane character, vanilla, dried herbs, citrus peel, gentle oak spice, and a silky texture. The finish is long and elegant.
Outstanding neat. The purity of expression makes this one of the finest agricoles available. A bottle for rum enthusiasts who value authenticity above all else.
