Finish

Clean and invigorating with a lingering sugarcane sweetness and peppery warmth

La Favorite Cœur de Canne is rhum agricole at its most elemental. Unaged, bottled at 50% ABV, and certified under Martinique's AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) for rhum agricole, this is a spirit that expresses the living sugarcane plant with stunning clarity and intensity.

La Favorite is one of the last family-owned distilleries in Martinique, and the Cœur de Canne ('Heart of the Cane') represents the freshest, most vibrant expression of their estate-grown sugarcane. The Creole column still captures the essential character of the cane juice while maintaining the purity and clarity that defines great blanc agricole.

On the nose, expect fresh-cut sugarcane, lime leaf, green olive, wet grass, white flowers, and mineral clarity. The palate is herbaceous and vibrant with sugarcane purity, grassy freshness, white pepper, and citrus brightness. The finish is clean and invigorating.

This is the quintessential Ti Punch rum. A measure of Cœur de Canne, a disc of lime, a touch of cane syrup — nothing more is needed. The 50% ABV provides the intensity that this serve demands.

8/10

The name means 'heart of the cane' and it's apt. This blanc agricole captures the purest expression of fresh Martinique sugarcane — grassy, vegetal, with notes of citrus, white flower, and a hint of green banana. Clean and vibrant. Perfect in a Ti' Punch.

La Favorite is one of the last distilleries to use a steam engine, giving its rhum a distinctive character. Cœur de Canne is their purest expression — fresh cane, grassiness, citrus, white pepper, and a mineral finish. No frills, no manipulation, just honest Martinique spirit.

The Ti' Punch — rhum, cane syrup, lime — is the national drink of Martinique, and Cœur de Canne makes the finest version I've ever had. The intense fresh cane character stands up to the lime, the syrup rounds the edges, and the result is devastatingly delicious. A rite of passage.

There's no hiding behind barrel ageing or sweetness here. Cœur de Canne is naked agricultural rum — grassy, fresh, with sugarcane front and centre. It demands attention and rewards it with citrus, white flower, and mineral complexity. Not for everyone, but essential for agricole lovers.

If you're expecting the sweetness of traditional rum, Cœur de Canne will be a shock. It's grassy, vegetal, almost savoury — closer to a blanco tequila than a Bacardi. But give it time and the fresh cane character reveals genuine beauty. Best in a Ti' Punch with cane syrup and lime.

9/10

If you want to understand what rhum agricole blanc tastes like at its best, start here. La Favorite Cœur de Canne is vibrantly fresh — grassy sugarcane, citrus, white pepper, and a mineral finish from the Martinique terroir. No barrel influence, no sweetness, just pure cane spirit. Exceptional.

Close your eyes and you're in a cane field in Fort-de-France. The grassy freshness, the citrus brightness, the white flower aromatics — it's Martinique distilled. Serve it chilled with a squeeze of lime and a touch of cane syrup. The simplest serve, the greatest pleasure.
