History you can taste

The oldest commercial rum distillery in the world, operating since 1703, and Mount Gay XO lives up to that heritage. Refined and complex with vanilla, butterscotch, leather, and oak. There's a dignity to this rum that newer distilleries can't replicate.

Old Fashioned excellence

While I normally sip this neat, Mount Gay XO makes the most incredible Rum Old Fashioned. The butterscotch and vanilla notes play beautifully with the bitters, and the oak spice adds another dimension. The Barbadian refinement elevates the cocktail enormously.

Smooth as silk

The mouthfeel on Mount Gay XO is extraordinary — silky, creamy, almost oily. Caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, and toasted coconut with a touch of dried fruit and oak spice. The finish is long and warming with a pleasant nutmeg note. Very well made.

Barbadian elegance in a glass

Mount Gay XO is the epitome of Barbadian rum — smooth, refined, and complex. The blend of rums aged 8 to 15 years creates layers of vanilla, butterscotch, dried fruit, and toasted oak. A hint of banana and coconut on the nose. Gorgeous sipped neat.

The benchmark Barbadian sip

Every aspiring rum should study Mount Gay XO. The balance is impeccable — vanilla and butterscotch sweetness, dried fruit and banana complexity, toasted oak and nutmeg spice, and a finish that evolves beautifully. If you're new to sipping rum, start here.

Perfection from Barbados

I've been drinking rum for twenty years and Mount Gay XO remains one of the finest I've ever tasted. The blend of aged marques creates something that's greater than the sum of its parts — vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, banana, leather, oak, coconut — all in perfect harmony. The long, warming finish is pure joy.

Very good but a bit reserved

Mount Gay XO is undeniably well-crafted — smooth, balanced, with nice notes of caramel and dried fruit. But I find it a touch too restrained. I want my aged rum to have a bit more personality, a bit more oomph. It's polished almost to a fault.
