Clean and refreshing with a lingering sugarcane sweetness and white pepper warmth

Plantation 3 Stars is a white rum that punches well above its weight. Created by Alexandre Gabriel at Maison Ferrand in Cognac, this expression blends rums from three Caribbean islands — Jamaica, Barbados, and Trinidad — each contributing a different dimension to the final spirit. The Jamaican component brings ester-driven funk, the Barbadian adds smoothness and balance, and the Trinidadian contributes lightness and freshness.

At 41.2% ABV, it sits slightly above the standard strength, giving it enough weight to stand confidently in cocktails without overpowering more delicate serves. The blending is masterful — you can taste the complexity of multiple terroirs without any single element dominating.

On the nose, expect coconut water, pear drops, lime leaf, white pepper, and subtle ester funk. The palate is rounded and surprisingly full, with citrus zest, light vanilla, coconut freshness, green apple, and gentle Jamaican funk. The finish is clean and refreshing with lingering sugarcane sweetness and white pepper warmth.

This is a supremely versatile cocktail rum. It excels in a Daiquiri, brings genuine character to a Mojito, and has enough body to work in a Rum Punch. For the price, Plantation 3 Stars is difficult to fault.

Kenji Watanabe VIPsAllowed - A blend that actually works
9/10

The concept of blending rums from Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad sounds like a marketing gimmick, but it genuinely delivers something special. You get Barbadian smoothness, Jamaican funk, and Trinidadian lightness all in one glass. The nose has banana and vanilla, the palate is clean but complex. Superb.

I'm a bartender and this is what I reach for when someone orders a Daiquiri. The multi-island blend gives it layers that single-origin whites just can't match. There's a lovely coconut and vanilla undertone with just a whisper of Jamaican funkiness. Makes everything better.

Love the idea and the execution. Barbados brings the smoothness, Jamaica brings the character, Trinidad brings the balance. You get honey and vanilla on the nose, banana and coconut on the palate. Works brilliantly in a Mai Tai or on its own.

Alexandre Gabriel clearly knows what he's doing with these blends. There's a richness here that most white rums lack — the sugarcane sweetness is rounded out by tropical fruit and a gentle ester character from the Jamaican portion. Excellent in a Daiquiri.

Amira Benali VIPsAllowed - Changed how I think about white rum
9/10

I used to think all white rums were interchangeable mixer spirits. Plantation 3 Stars proved me wrong. The tropical fruit, vanilla, and gentle funk from the Jamaican component make this genuinely enjoyable neat. The finish has a lovely coconut creaminess.

Interesting blend with noticeable Jamaican character peeking through — a slight overripe banana note that adds personality. The Barbadian component keeps it smooth and the Trinidad element adds lightness. A bit pricier than basic whites but you taste the difference.

Kai Oliveira VIPsAllowed - The best white rum I've ever had
10/10

I've been through dozens of white rums and nothing compares. The three-island blend creates extraordinary complexity — banana, vanilla, coconut, tropical fruit, a hint of funk — all while remaining crisp and clean. It elevates every cocktail and is genuinely delightful neat. This is what white rum should aspire to be.
